Contractors updating the Alice ISD Board reported tangible progress on the district’s stadium project and previewed a proposed change order to rework the southeast parking/transportation area.
Tim Meiser of Weber Jacobs gave a construction progress report: foundations for Buildings A, B and C have been poured, MEP underground work and press box elevator pit excavation are complete or in progress, plumbing work for the field house is finished and the contractor expects additional concrete pours by the end of the month. Musco light poles (approximately 100–110 feet tall) have been installed, and site earthwork, storm lines and underground data conduits are under way.
BBK’s Gary Lopez presented interior and exterior color palettes, finish samples and renderings for press-box interiors, flooring, laminates and exterior CMU colors. The board reviewed neutral grays and accent “burnt orange/terracotta” options for panels, tiles and carpets.
Contractors also outlined a proposed change order affecting the transportation/parking area on the southeast corner of the site. The concept as described would: remove the existing parking surface and utilities in the indicated area, relocate existing diesel tanks, regrade the soil, and add approximately 175 visitor parking spaces plus a small plaza and lighting. The district will receive pricing and a formal change-order package for board consideration at a subsequent meeting.
No new contract award or change-order approval occurred at this meeting; the board was presented renderings, material selections and a summary of the item that will be priced and returned to the board for action.
