Punxsutawney Area School District elects 2026 board officers during reorganization meeting

The Punxsutawney Area School District board administered oaths of office to newly elected directors and completed its annual reorganization before moving into the regular monthly meeting. After nominations, the board elected Chad Horner as president and Doug Bloss as vice president for the 2026 term, each by unanimous roll‑call votes.

The reorganization began with certificates of election read aloud by the presiding official and the formal oath for those taking office. The board then named Trevor Yount temporary president to run the early portion of the meeting before electing officers for the full year.

Why it matters: The elections set leadership for the district's board for the coming year and determine who will preside over agenda setting, committee appointments and intergovernmental representation.

Board business that accompanied the officer elections included permission to continue using the existing official signature stamp until a new stamp is registered with the state and an adjournment of the reorganization portion to reconvene for the regular meeting. On the officer vote, members recorded unanimous support; no opposing votes were recorded.

"I appreciate your support and your nomination," said Chad Horner after being elected president, thanking colleagues for the unanimous vote.

The board then began regular business with the now‑seated president presiding. Among the administrative items approved during the meeting were appointments to external bodies, including district representation to Jeff Tech and the region's intermediate unit (IU 6). The board also confirmed Trevor Yount as temporary chair earlier in the meeting before installing the 2026 officers.

The meeting closed after routine business and a final motion to adjourn carried by unanimous voice vote.
