The presenter said roughly 58% of eligible elementary students (grades 3–5) participate in performing ensembles and about 41% of secondary students participate. He identified primary budget drivers as dues/assessments for the New Hampshire Music Educators Association, transportation for performances, classroom and instrument supplies, and instrument repair and maintenance.
On program access, the music director said his longer‑term goal is “to be able to provide every Timberlane student with one year of instrumental instruction, at 0 cost,” noting the substantial logistical challenge around stringed instruments, which require multiple fractional sizes as students grow. He described efforts to locate used fractional instruments and the role of donations.
The presenter also discussed delayed uniform deliveries (hats received; full uniforms pending) and volunteer fundraising support through the Timberlane Music Association (TMA) to offset some student expenses for festivals and trips. The committee advanced the music budget for review.
