Tualatin proclaims October 2025 Domestic Violence Awareness Month; Family Peace Center previewed

Rachel Schultz, who presented the project, summarized partners who will be colocated at the Family Peace Center: Washington County Circuit Court; the Washington County District Attorney's domestic violence unit; law enforcement (Washington County Sheriff's Office, Beaverton Police, Hillsboro Police); medical/forensic providers including CARES Northwest and Providence Health and Services; legal services (Oregon Law Center, Oregon Crime Victims Law Center, St. Andrews Legal Clinic) and survivor-advocacy groups. Schultz described three floors of operations: survivor services on the first floor, community-based partner offices on the second floor and medical, court and law-enforcement presence on the third.
Councilor Socko read the proclamation, citing county service numbers from 2024 (the Family Justice Center served 7,204 survivors; the Domestic Violence Resource Center provided 9,110 crisis services) and observed that domestic violence affects people across demographics but disproportionately impacts communities vulnerable to inequality. Schultz also reported that the Family Justice Center had served 151 people from Tualatin through July of the current year and announced a community 5K on Oct. 12 to support awareness efforts.
