RPC accepts 2024 Truckee Meadows annual report and hears PIP update; staff outline data and dashboard improvements

The Truckee Meadows Regional Planning Commission on Nov. 17 accepted the 2024 Truckee Meadows annual report and received a presentation on the 2025 Public Infrastructure Plan (PIP) update.
Shawnee Souza of TMRPA walked the commission through the annual-report dashboard, which displays population, dwelling units, housing indicators (median home-sales price and rental trends), land-use acreage and employment statistics. Souza described data sources and said the team aims to update the dashboard more frequently, with a goal of quarterly refreshes where data availability permits.
Chris Tolley presented the PIP update and said TMRPA had compiled added assets (historical completed infrastructure) and capital improvement program (CIP) commitments from jurisdictions. Tolley cited a roughly $269 million year-over-year increase in added assets (driven in part by completed school projects) and about a $1 billion increase in CIP spending forecast for the next five years. Staff described work to spatialize assets and link CIP line items to locations to make the PIP more useful to decision-makers and to support future conformance reviews.
Commissioners praised the dashboard and encouraged staff to continue improving data granularity and cadence. The commission voted to accept the annual reports and provided feedback on the PIP work and dashboard usefulness for project review.
