Student council updates and multiple student athletic recognitions highlight Stewartville meeting

Student council leaders Landon Hay and Savannah Lindbeck presented a roundup of recent activities and fundraising efforts to the Stewartville board, and trustees formally recognized multiple student-athlete state qualifiers.
"Tonight, we are here to present an update of the city council and what we have done and plan to do," Landon Hay said while outlining homecoming events, a costume-drawing fundraiser and two popcorn-Friday fundraisers that support the Women, Infants and Children (WIC) program.
Council members described community service efforts including participation in regional food distributions (Nov. 7) with the Gage Empowerment Center and Channel 1, and said they will provide a finalized donation total to the district at a future meeting.
The board then recognized a series of athletic achievements: Olivia Regal (girls tennis) qualified as an individual for the state tournament; the boys soccer team reached the state tournament for the first time in program history, entered with a 19-0 record and returned with a third-place trophy; boys cross country sophomore Nolan Schatz placed 40th at state; and the volleyball team earned a third-place trophy with multiple individual and coach honors.
Coaches and student athletes gave brief remarks about their seasons and teamwork. Board members praised the students' community involvement and volunteerism.
What happens next: Student council will report final fundraising totals at a future meeting; athletic programs will continue recognition and community engagement efforts.
