Commissioners approve minutes, claims, policy update and multiple contracts in routine Nov. 10 meeting

During a routine session on Nov. 10, the Elkhart County Board of Commissioners approved a series of administrative and contract items, acting unanimously on consent and individually presented items.
The board approved the Nov. 3 minutes and regular claims. It adopted an updated public comment policy, noting the policy will be posted publicly and copies made available. The board approved an independent contractor agreement to allow task orders with BAM Tree Service Inc. and immediately approved a related task order for tree clearing along the County Road 17 corridor, awarding work to the low bidder.
Buildings and Grounds presented a recommended award to D.A. Dodd for replacement of two rooftop HVAC units on the sheriff's administration building at a recommended amount of $230,208; the board approved the recommendation. The sheriff's office received approval to send staff to the CALEA accreditation conference in Jacksonville, Florida. The board also approved the annual Purdue Extension agreement covering six extension educators, noting program enrollment and outreach metrics presented by the county extension director.
All motions recorded in the meeting were approved unanimously. The board adjourned after a three-minute public comment period and customary closing procedures.
