Commissioners back local share for school capital projects totaling roughly $487,655

County staff asked the Allegany County Commissioners to support the local share of the Board of Education's Capital Improvement Plan submitted to the state. Mr. Patterson summarized the projects and the local funding requests: local funding for continued chilled-water plant work at Washington Middle School and the Braddock Middle School chilled-water plant was stated as "137.5 each," and local allocation for the Washington Middle early childhood addition was spoken as "212,655," which the presenter summarized as totalling "$487,655." Patterson said the county's share was previously approved in the county CIP and that these funds were part of planned local commitments.
Dr. Michael Martirano, superintendent, thanked county leaders for collaboration and for prioritizing students and fiscal stewardship. "I appreciate the collaboration... using our dollars judiciously to get the results that we need for our students," Martirano said.
Commissioners moved and approved support for Item B by voice vote. Patterson and county staff said the amounts are included in the county's CIP packet for state submission; the county indicated the packet will be available online for public review.
