At its Nov. 4 meeting the Allegany County Board of Elections administered the oath of office to Taylor Richards, who signed a standard oath pledging to support the U.S. Constitution and to "diligently and faithfully" execute the office of registrar.
The chair (name not specified) read the oath and Richards signed the form dated Nov. 4. Excerpting the oath, the chair read: "I, Taylor Richards, do swear that I will support the Constitution of The United States and I will be faithful and bear true allegiance to the state and federal ... and that I will, to the best of my skill and judgment, diligently and faithfully ... execute the office of registrar." Richards was welcomed to the office by board members.
Context: earlier in the administrator's report the office said a registrar vacancy had been created, the job was posted and applications were being accepted; the transcript notes the filing deadline for that posting is Friday, Nov. 7. The board completed the oath and moved on to other agenda items.
Next steps: Richards will assume registrar duties; staff will continue recruitment and candidate review for related posted positions.
