District technology staff gave the board an extended update on the district—s technology roadmap, describing how recent investments are intended to support classroom access, multilingual students and staff productivity.
The district has adopted Clever single-sign-on so teachers and substitutes can access curriculum resources without sharing credentials. "If you needed to go in and change your password, you wouldn't have to be on campus anymore," the technology director said, describing the convenience of SSO and temporary badges for substitutes.
Administrators demonstrated classroom audio/transcription hardware that pairs a teacher microphone with a small device to transcribe lessons in real time; students can connect on their devices, select a language and receive live audio and on-screen transcription in their chosen language. The technology director described how teachers can then export lesson transcripts into short summaries for classroom use.
The district also described cybersecurity training (phishing exercises with KnowBe4), a recent wholesale network rebuild, and a move to Google Plus subscriptions that allow controlled access to Gemini and NotebookLM for staff. District staff said a small Gemini Plus pilot group will test use cases for March ACT preparation and staff professional development; the district is cautious about broad access for younger students.
Other operational updates included migrating all available transcripts into Parchment and progress toward a 1-to-1 iPad deployment for students, with device delivery expected around Christmas and broader rollout afterward.
Board members raised concerns about screen time and balancing digital and paper-based instruction as the district shifts away from heavy paper use. Administration said they will continue professional development and monitor app usage through Clever/Mobile Device Management.
