The Washington County Board of County Commissioners approved several personnel and administrative items, including a corrective appointment term, a reclassification in the permits division and authorization to advertise a part‑time Assistant Medical Director for the county paramedic program.
Don Marcus, County Clerk, asked the board to correct previously recorded Planning Commission appointment dates for Douglas Wright Jr. and Laura Lane Unsworth so the five‑year terms run Jan. 1, 2026, through Dec. 31, 2030; the board moved and approved the correction.
Human Resources Director Chip Rose and Greg Hartrette, code official and director of Permits & Inspections, requested reclassification of a Senior Office Associate (Grade 8) to Permit Support Associate (Grade 8). Staff said the change has no financial impact, and the board approved the reclassification by voice vote.
Staff also asked to advertise and hire a part‑time Assistant Medical Director for the Public Safety Training Center paramedic program after the Commission on Accreditation identified that position as missing. Staff said the FY26 budget can cover initial part‑time wages, with an estimated subsequent annual budget impact of about $43,000. The board approved the request to advertise and hire.
At the end of the public session the board voted to enter a closed session to discuss confidential personnel matters and to consult with legal counsel.
