Bowie council adopts midyear budget amendments to align spending with projects

The Bowie City Council on Dec. 1 adopted Ordinance 0-13-25, a midyear amendment to the fiscal year 2026 budget that reallocates and appropriates funds to several municipal projects.
City staff described the ordinance as an administrative action to align appropriations with current spending. The ordinance explicitly appropriates $500,000 for lighting repairs; $200,000 for a lateral sewer-lining project at Somerset; $16,500 for salary and fringe benefits; $10,000 for a housing grant; $15,200 for the purchase of a folder sealer machine; and $16,800 to cover building permit issuance costs connected to the Bowie Golf Course Maintenance Building.
Staff said the changes reflect spending to date and allow finance to reconcile the budget to actuals. The council opened and closed the related public hearing (no commenters) and then adopted the ordinance after a motion and a second. The council approved the ordinance by voice vote with no recorded roll-call.
The ordinance passed as an administrative budget update; staff indicated further budget decisions related to capital projects and implementation will come through the normal budget process.
