The Taneytown Planning Commission voted to approve a concept site plan for renovations to the existing McDonald’s at 520 East Baltimore Street.
Staff recommended the commission consider the October 23, 2025 site plan report and public comment in evaluating the concept. Johnny Lisco of Boller Engineering and Aaron Valentine (CLSI) said the proposal incorporates previous commission comments, that a parking‑signage variance was approved at the Board of Zoning Appeals on Oct. 22, and that the project team has not provided a fixed employee count because staffing can fluctuate.
Commissioners voiced concerns over parking and driveway dimensions. One commissioner asked whether the curb‑to‑curb paving meets the local minimum (the plans show a 26‑foot paved width plus curb; the commission expects 26.8 feet or 28 feet of blacktop in some cases). The applicant agreed to investigate and provide updated drawings before the next meeting.
A motion to approve the McDonald’s concept plan carried by voice vote with at least one commissioner recording a dissent.
The commission instructed applicants to return with updated drawings, answers about driveway setbacks and parking/driveway geometry for preliminary review.
