During the December meeting, Crawford County commissioners addressed several administrative and procedural items.
A county official presented the annual resolution (referred to as Resolution 2025‑033) that exempts Crawford County from using Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) in preparing its financial statements, confirming instead that the county will use Kansas cash‑basis municipal accounting and state budget laws as required by state law. The presenter said auditors require the resolution annually; staff indicated they would circulate three copies for signature.
Commissioners also reviewed recent budget printouts and agreed to examine lines that may need amendments, with a plan to return on Friday to propose recommended adjustments and to set a hearing date as necessary.
On procurement and scheduling, the commission set a due date of the 19th for workers’ compensation quotes and asked vendors to appear in person to present quotes. Commissioners agreed to hold a Ryan Insurance work session at 9:00 a.m. on Dec. 12 for an update. The commission also confirmed the Dec. 9 meeting would be canceled to allow commissioners to attend the Kansas Association of Counties conference Dec. 9–11 in Wichita.
A commissioner requested and the body approved a 15‑minute closed executive session at the end of the meeting with county counsel to discuss non‑elected personnel job performance related to the Convention & Visitors Bureau (CVB).
What’s next: Staff will circulate Resolution 2025‑033 for signatures, prepare budget amendment recommendations for Friday, collect workers’ compensation quotes by Dec. 19, and coordinate the Ryan Insurance work session on Dec. 12.
