County staff notified the Crawford County Commission that the City of Pittsburg has scheduled a public hearing on a proposed tax abatement for a plastics manufacturer identified in meeting materials as Enerplast Group/Fit Plastics and referred to in discussion as "Pitt Plastics." The City hearing is set for Tuesday, Dec. 9 at 5:30 p.m. in the City Commission Room at the Law Enforcement Center in Pittsburg.

Staff (Lisa) said she handed out the City's materials; commissioners said they had only just received the notice and asked staff (Jim) to look into the details and, if possible, attend or listen to the hearing. Commissioners agreed staff should report back at the Friday meeting with any additional particulars they gathered.

What’s next: County staff will attempt to gather additional information about the duration, value and terms of the proposed tax abatement and report back to the commission.
