Council approves vehicle-replacement plan, vac/jet truck and wastewater equipment bids

At the July 29 meeting the East Greenwich Town Council approved a package of capital equipment actions that included participation in an Enterprise Fleet Management lease/replace program, award of a combination vacuum-and-jet truck, and authorization of several wastewater and storage-tank engineering and HVAC purchases.
Council authorized the town manager to enter an agreement with Enterprise Fleet Management for a multi-year vehicle replacement program covering light-duty fleet vehicles (not to exceed $700,000 of the $2,850,000 capital equipment bond proceeds). The town manager told the council the program targets 34 light-duty vehicles, the average current vehicle age is 11 years, and the town estimates about $300,000 in savings over the modeled lifecycle by accelerating turnover and consolidating acquisitions.
Council also approved an award to JC Madigan (approximately $415,000) for a combined vacuum-and-jet truck to support annual MS4 catch-basin cleaning and wastewater maintenance; DPW staff said the unit consolidates functions previously performed by separate trucks and will increase reliability and efficiency.
Other consent-calendar approvals included ANC Plumbing ($68,500) to replace a failed wastewater HVAC unit funded from the 2025 wastewater capital outlay account and an engineering award to Beta Group (~$57,480 plus contingency) for design of new above-ground storage tanks using ARPA funds. The council passed these items on consent or by roll call as presented.
