Superintendent outlines maintenance projects, HB 8 policy update and facility improvements

Mr. Bellville also outlined a number of summer maintenance and energy-conservation projects: Vasco is resealing parking lots on the main campus for the high school and middle school; a track-surface rejuvenation will add a top layer after about eight years of use; auditorium stage lights are being replaced with LED fixtures as part of an energy-conservation plan; and drainage fixes and new sod will be installed on the football field with named local contractors assisting. He described previous large capital costs (chiller replacements) and framed transfer proposals as part of a long-term plan to maintain first-class learning facilities without seeking new levies from the community.
Board members asked clarifying questions about timelines and vendors and praised maintenance staff for work performed over the summer. The board later moved to approve the second reading of policy IGDLA (Promoting Parental Involvement) as required by state legislation.
