Commission approves appointments, combined contracts and several resolutions; scanner separation motion fails

Commissioners considered separating a line item for courtroom-security scanners, but Miss Jones’ motion to vote on the scanners separately failed and the original combined motion passed. The chair announced the combined motion carried (recorded as '20 ayes').
Resolutions and other motions: The commission approved resolution 25-49 to apply for the Tennessee ECD Historic Development Grant (see separate article) and approved resolution 2025-50 naming the Showcreek Road bridge the Marion Fosse Knight Memorial Bridge by voice vote.
Meetings and process: Commissioners raised concerns about the reliability of current voting software and asked the county executive to research alternatives. They also confirmed a budget committee meeting for Dec. 5 at 9 a.m. to prepare for January decisions on potential bonds and other fiscal business.
