The Entertainment Commission voted unanimously May 4 to approve a limited live performance permit for VIN Debut, a wine bar at 9 West Portal Avenue that plans to add occasional indoor live entertainment.
Staff said Taraval Station approved the permit with no additional conditions and that a letter of support was on file. Owner James Robinson spoke briefly about the business and its reliance on hiring local musicians as part of recovery. "We've been here since 02/2006...things are picking up at night," Robinson said during his presentation.
Commissioners praised the application and encouraged the business. Commissioner Wang moved to approve the permit and Commissioner Thomas seconded; the vote was recorded as all 'Aye.' Staff will follow up with the permit holder on next steps.
Next steps: staff to finalize permit paperwork and issue the permit to the applicant.
