"My grandfather opened the wax museum in 1963," Fong said, summarizing his long-term connection to the waterfront.
Committee members asked about neighborhood-versus-port interests and potential conflicts; Fong repeated he has experience in consensus building and said he was "ready to serve." No members of the public spoke on his appointment during the allotted public-comment period.
Chair Ross Mercarimi said the committee would forward the recommendation to the full board and thanked Fong for his willingness to serve.
