House adopts committee report, moves several measures to calendars and adjourns

The Utah House adopted a standing committee report and advanced several measures before adjourning on March 5, 2015. The reading clerk reported that the Public Utilities and Technology Committee recommended favorable action on "SB 2 49," described as "tracks crossing bars operations amendments," and on concurrent and joint resolutions supporting veterans and workforce hiring in prison relocation efforts.

The reading clerk said, "Mister speaker, the public utilities and technology committee reports a favorable recommendation on SB 2 49." The clerk also reported favorable recommendations on SCR 6, described as supporting Vietnam veterans, and on SJR 15, described as encouraging Utah workers be employed in prison relocation efforts, the latter noted with amendments. The committee also recommended favorable action on HB 4 43, described as capital preservation board amendments, and recommended it be placed on the consent calendar.

Representative Ivory moved to adopt the committee report; the House approved the motion by voice vote and the presiding officer ruled that the motion carried. The presiding officer announced that SB 2 49, SCR 6 and SJR 15, having been read a second time as amended, would be placed at the bottom of the Senate third-reading calendar, and that HB 4 43, having been read a second time, would be placed at the bottom of the consent calendar.

Before closing, a motion to adjourn until Friday, March 6 at 10:00 a.m. was offered, declared non-debatable, and approved by voice vote. The presiding officer then adjourned the House.
