City Manager Paul Kramer presented the proposed 2026 budget to the council. The presentation described the budget as balanced, meeting the city’s priorities to support, attract and retain staff while accounting for moderated property valuations and variable sales tax revenue.

The city invited residents to learn more at a budget open house on Wednesday, Aug. 6 from 5 to 7 p.m. at Shawnee Town Hall. The final public hearings for the budget and the revenue neutral rate are scheduled for the Monday, Aug. 25 council meeting. Council will meet again before then on Monday, Aug. 11 at 6 p.m. for regular business.
What happens next: the budget will proceed to the public hearing process where residents can comment; the council will consider adopting the budget and the revenue neutral rate at the Aug. 25 meeting.
