Chase County proclaims October Domestic Violence Awareness Month after SOS director’s remarks

"I'm the crisis services director at SOS, and I'm here to say thank you for being willing to proclaim October's Domestic Violence Awareness Month," Mary Allen said during public comment, and she told commissioners the agency provided 59 presentations in Chase County over the past year and served just over 700 people across its programs, including 11 in Chase County.
Commissioners moved to adopt the proclamation and it passed by voice vote. Allen said the programs — crisis services, Casa Flint Hills, a child visitation and exchange center, and a Child Advocacy Center — rely on community support, law enforcement and courts, and she expressed appreciation for the county’s assistance. The commission recorded the proclamation as adopted; no dissent was recorded in the transcript.
