Addison resident raises environmental health concerns during public comment

During the committee portion of the Village of Addison’s Nov. 18 meeting, Olive Kaiser of 427 South Lincoln Street addressed the board during audience participation to raise concerns about environmental hazards.
Kaiser said she has been following the issue for months and urged the village to continue to pursue remedies and support. "I'm thinking of Robert f Kennedy who has, gone to bat for these various situations and is in perhaps a better situation to be able to bring more attention to the matter and maybe more legal help as well," she said. Kaiser also said she worried about harm to infants and pregnancies, saying, "...that babies will live and not be miscarried and people just be 1 less piece of toxicity that, we're all exposed to." Those remarks were made during public comment; no staff report or formal action on the matter was taken at the meeting.
The board acknowledged Kaiser’s remarks and proceeded with the agenda; there is no record in the transcript of staff response or immediate follow-up direction from the board. Kaiser closed by thanking the board and saying she hoped this would be her last time raising the issue.
Because her concerns were raised during public comment, they were recorded but not acted on during the Nov. 18 meeting.
