A county official had explained earlier that the bridge project used federal aid (approximately a 70/30 split of federal to local funds) and that a final voucher is required under the grant agreements to close out the project. The board voted to approve the final payment voucher and carried the motion.
The board also approved an Iowa DOT HSIP swap project (C025135FJ25) tied to a multi‑county application for safety improvements on a road that links Interstate 80 north into Dexter. A supervisor described the project as a bundled, four‑county effort; the state provides safety funds and participating counties provide local shares based on mileage of the project within each county. The improvements discussed included widening, new pavement and shoulders.
Supervisors noted the HSIP project is still in development and that preliminary plans and agreements with the lead county (Dallas County) must be finalized before construction. The board also approved other routine EMS write‑offs and licensed temporary and annual liquor operations by voice votes during the same meeting.
No additional conditions or amendments to the grants were made at the meeting; supervisors said they expect design work and contracting to continue through the coming year.
