The Board of Education voted on May 27 to establish a repair reserve fund of up to $3,000,000 under Education Law §3651 and General Municipal Law §6‑d, to be appropriated from prospective additional fund balance as of June 30, 2025. Trustees said the restricted reserve will allow the district to pay for nonrecurring capital repairs—examples cited included emergency building systems repairs—without disrupting the annual operating budget. Trustee Curzio and Trustee Wise supported the measure as prudent fiscal planning; the motion passed.
On the same agenda the board approved several budget transfers described as budget‑neutral re‑allocations to close out FY24–25, including transfers of $17,000, $19,029 and $70,209 among general fund codes and contingency items. Trustees confirmed these transfers did not move money between reserves and the general fund and said any reserve adjustments would return to the board for approval.
The board also approved routine personnel actions, a memorandum of agreement with the Carmel Office Staff Association to create a Transportation 'sub calling system administrator' stipended role, and five new high‑school course proposals for 2025–26 intended to expand dual‑credit opportunities.
