At the Laguna Hills Park and Recreation Commission meeting, staff summarized the city’s summer outreach and special events. Director Danny said the department hosted 'Popsicles in the Park' visits (about 20–25 participants per visit), three Concerts in the Park (each drawing roughly 200–500 attendees), and three Movies in the Park (about 75–150 attendees per screening). The July 18 concert also featured a children’s entrepreneurial market with more than 45 youth vendors.
Budget figures provided by staff for the reported events: Concerts in the Park had a budget allocation of $19,000 and expenditures of $17,295; Movies in the Park had a $5,000 allocation with estimated expenditures of $3,315 (staff said one invoice and some receipts remain outstanding); the department’s special events/catch-all line had a $39,000 allocation covering outreach and various celebrations. Staff estimated total staff costs across the summer events at about $8,720.
Commissioners praised the children's market for youth engagement and discussed the program’s logistics and potential expansion. The commission voted to receive and file the post-event report and asked staff to return with any final outstanding invoices when available.
