LaPorte County commissioners approve Anthem plan, grant and multiple administrative actions

Health insurance: After a presentation comparing the current UMR/Berkeley program with a proposed Anthem package, insurance consultant Eric Gibson said Anthem’s proposal would produce a lower increase in expected plan costs (Anthem ~12.9% vs. renewal offer higher) and identified about $235,000 in estimated plan-cost delta and an estimated $127,000 in non-premium savings for the county. Following attorney review, the board voted to adopt the Anthem package and directed staff to send contracts for signature.
