Kennesaw council renews Acworth 911 contract, accepts monthly crime report and clears consent agenda

The Kennesaw City Council on Monday evening voted unanimously to renew a decade‑long agreement to provide 911 services to the City of Acworth, accepted the police department’s June/July crime statistics and approved a consent agenda containing four items.

The council approved the interlocal Kennesaw–Acworth 911 services renewal after staff said the last renewal was executed in 2015 and that the proposed 10‑year extension keeps existing terms in place; presenters said Acworth has already approved the renewal. No councilor opposed the measure.

Captain Mitchell presented the June/July crime report before the vote. He said there were five aggravated‑assault offenses (an increase of three from the prior period), fraud offenses were down by eight to nine incidents, and department activity included 751 calls for service, 1,671 self‑initiated activities, 746 citations issued, 978 warnings, 77 arrests, 105 accidents (10 with injuries) and eight reported hit‑and‑runs. After discussion the council moved to accept the statistics; the motion passed unanimously.

Earlier in the meeting the council approved the consent agenda, described by the mayor as four routine items, by unanimous voice/hand vote.

What’s next: staff will proceed with the 10‑year 911 services arrangement as presented; no additional council action on these items was announced at the meeting.
