Climate Smart Task Force moves site to village domain, closes heat-pump grant and readies textile pickup program

Vanessa, speaking for the Climate Smart Task Force, told trustees on Nov. 13 that the task force’s web content (climatesmartrhinebeck.org) has been migrated to the village’s official website and that a resident survey (150 responses) showed reducing single-use plastic as the top priority (about 38%).
"The climatesmartrhinebeck.org website has now been migrated to be on the official village website," Vanessa said, adding that the task force had submitted an invoice for an energy study and received a NYSERDA reimbursement that closed out a heat-pump project at the police and wastewater departments.
The task force also reported completing the grant spend-down for a compost program and said it will prepare final reimbursement paperwork. Vanessa said the task force is onboarding households after a townwide mailer and will participate in a Dutchess County program called "Help Sea" (textile recycling) offering curbside pickup of clothing, shoes and other textiles; the county will also host a drop-off bin. A planned resiliency-planning presentation from Cornell Cooperative Extension was postponed to December because the presenter was ill.
Trustees did not take formal action on those items at the meeting but directed the task force to continue reporting progress and to present the Cornell Cooperative Extension presentation when rescheduled.
