Dimmit County OKs $250,000 county resolution to enable home‑delivered meals grant

Dimmit County Commissioners Court on Sept. 22 approved a resolution certifying that the county will make a grant of $250,000 to Community Service Agencies of South Texas, a nonprofit that provides home‑delivered meals to homebound elderly and persons with disabilities. The resolution, required by the Texas Department of Agriculture for grant eligibility, covers services between Sept. 1, 2025 and Aug. 31, 2026.

County Judge Anthony Siafonze read the resolution into the record and asked for a motion. The court voted unanimously to adopt the resolution, with commissioners saying the funding follows an allocation approved in the county budget earlier this month. The judge explained the resolution is a procedural step required by the state program to certify that the county has approved the organization's accounting system or fiscal agent as required by Texas grant rules.

The decision will allow Community Service Agencies of South Texas to apply for state funds that supplement and extend existing meal delivery to homebound residents. The court did not take additional action on programmatic oversight; staff indicated the county has reviewed the organization’s fiscal procedures as required by program rules.

The resolution was introduced at the commissioners’ meeting and passed by voice vote; no opposition was recorded. The county listed the $250,000 grant amount in the resolution motion.
