The Uxbridge School Committee on June 10 voted to adopt revisions to the high school student handbook that administrators described as primarily administrative and clerical. Superintendent Karen Dwyer and staff said the committee has a legal responsibility to approve the high school handbook and that most changes were routine.
Dwyer noted additional administrative updates related to ELL (English Learner) screening that will come to the committee after staff finish work prompted by a recent targeted monitoring report from the Office of Language Acquisition. She said the report identified staffing needs for ELL support and recommended the district adopt a district-wide curriculum; the administration plans a fuller presentation in August.
A motion to approve the handbook as presented was made and seconded; the committee voted in favor.
