Boyd County fiscal court approves budget carryover, KPDI grant, opioid settlement and routine appointments

The court also approved a resolution authorizing Boyd County to serve as grantee for a Kentucky Product Development Initiative (KPDI) award supporting the Northeast Kentucky Regional Industrial Authority. The resolution records $4,800,000 in KPDI funding for construction of a 75,000-square-foot speculative manufacturing building on about 45 acres; the company that will occupy the building is expected to provide a $708,000 private matching contribution, the court was told. The court moved and approved the KPDI resolution by unanimous roll call.
County staff presented and the court approved a resolution authorizing Boyd County to participate in a proposed settlement of opioid-related claims, including settlements with Purdue Pharma and other manufacturers; staff characterized the matter as part of a multi-jurisdictional process that dates back several years.
Other consent items approved by unanimous roll call included routine approvals of submitted bills and transfers, documentation of Canonsburg Water District commissioners’ salaries under KRS 74.020 (setting the record at $3,600 annually for commissioners who do not receive the specified training and up to $6,000 for those who complete required water-district training), reappointment recommendations from the Boyd County Tourism Convention Bureau for Justin Pruitt and Kristen Branham, and awarding a blacktop equipment/material bid to Blacktop Industries for $95,000.
