Troup County commissioners voted Sept. 16 to approve a new inmate food-service contract with Skillet Kitchen that includes an increase in the per-meal rate from $1.32 to $1.43 and an initial term aligned with the county fiscal year through June 2026.
Major Jeff Duran attended the meeting to discuss the item. Staff said the prior contract had expired and the vendor had been operating under the prior terms until the county signs a new agreement; the new contract would run to June 30, 2026 and contain a 60-day notice provision to discontinue renewal. Commissioners instructed that the contract receive final review by the county attorney before execution.
The board approved the contract by voice vote; the transcript does not include a roll-call tally. Commissioners were told annual increases would be announced by March each year to allow budget planning.
