Methacton SD board installs leadership, administers oaths to newly certified directors

The Methacton SD Board of School Directors installed interim and permanent leadership and administered oaths to newly certified directors at its Dec. 1, 2025 reorganization meeting.

Board members first selected Paul Winters as temporary president by roll call; the transcript records that vote as 5–0. Later in the meeting, after the county certification reading, the board elected Samira Perdue to serve as president for a one-year term.

The board resumed formal recognition of election results after Dr. Zerbe read a letter dated Nov. 24, 2025, from Francis Dean, director of elections, certifying the winners and vote totals. Dr. Zerbe read the certificate aloud: "We hereby certify the following results for the winners of November election in Montgomery County as follows," followed by vote counts listed in the certificate. Following the certification, the board called forward newly elected members and Judge Kathleen Rebar administered the oath of office to each in turn.

Those identified in the county certification, as read to the board, include Kathy Cleary (9,038 votes), Elizabeth Austin (8,501 votes), Glenn P. Murski (8,365 votes) and Elizabeth Akendo (8,242 votes). The board congratulated each newly sworn member after the oath.

Nominations for president and vice president took place by roll call. Samira Perdue received the board’s votes for president and was declared president for a one-year term. Separately, the board selected Kathy Cleary as vice president for a one-year term.

The reorganization meeting concluded without public comment and adjourned after leadership business was complete. The board said it looks forward to working with the newly seated members and continuing district business in the coming year.
