The board approved two program evaluations: the Professional Development Committee (PDC) evaluation and the district wellness committee evaluation.
PDC: Dr. Miller presented the annual professional development program evaluation, explaining that the PDC is composed of elected teacher representatives from each building who set program goals, align work with the district CSIP, and provide varied professional learning opportunities (summer academy, after‑school hours). She said the committee helps tailor development to teachers at different career stages, supports new teachers, and is part of the state-required reporting. Board members asked whether committee work yields career ladder hours or stipends; Dr. Miller explained the district gives members the option of career ladder hours or stipends (mentors are paid from PD funds). The board moved and approved the PDC evaluation 5–0.
Wellness: Dr. Pepper presented the wellness committee review, noting the committee is a less formal volunteer-led group (about 18 members) that plans staff wellness incentives funded in part by the district insurance provider. The committee ran events such as step challenges, a mental health awareness event, wellness bingo with gift card incentives, and partnered with student council and the community center to plan community events. Board members asked about measurable metrics in the evaluation and career ladder credits for committee work; administrators said newsletters and event work can be logged for career ladder hours and that a more proactive communications plan is planned for the next year. The board approved the wellness program evaluation.
Both approvals were supported by board motions and seconded votes recorded in the livestream.
Next steps: administrators will continue to refine program metrics and provide monthly nursing and wellness-related updates in consent agenda materials where relevant.
