Fairfield County honors former councilman Robert W. Davis and announces new procurement director

Fairfield County Council on Sept. 22 included a proclamation honoring former councilman Robert W. Davis and introduced Tamika Beaver as the county's new procurement director.
Dr. Roberts read the proclamation recognizing Davis as a "proud native of Fairfield County" who "served honorably in the United States Army" and who "served as a Fairfield County Council member for 18 years, leaving a legacy of advocacy, growth, and integrity." The council offered condolences to the Davis family and the chair said the proclamation would be placed on a plaque to be delivered to the family.
Earlier in the meeting a council member moved to amend the agenda to include the proclamation for former councilman Robert Davis; the motion was seconded and approved. Council members offered personal remarks, with one member thanking Davis for his long service and another noting the difficulty of filling his seat in District 3.
County Administrator Mr. Carpenter introduced Tamika Beaver as the incoming procurement director, saying she is a Winnsboro resident who previously worked as procurement manager for Richland School District 1 and will begin transition work in October to overlap with retiring staff member Miss Washington. Copies of Ms. Beaver's resume were offered to the council.
The meeting record shows no public commenters were signed up for the presentation portion of the agenda.
