Cullman County Schools board recognizes state champions, welcomes new staff and honors retiring transportation director

Superintendent Dr. Barnett summarized administrative changes affecting career and technical education (CTE): the district will split a previously combined CTE director/principal role and appoint a districtwide CTE leader while naming a principal for the career center. "We're gonna have, in the August, we're gonna have 10 new principals and 10 new assistant principals across our system," Dr. Barnett said, framing the reassignments as part of a larger effort to strengthen workforce development.
The board also recognized Jeff Harper, formerly transportation director, for his years of service. Harper addressed the board, saying he is "transitioning to the rocking chair" while noting he will return part time to assist during the transition. Board members expressed appreciation for his work coordinating transportation and weather monitoring support.
The meeting included appreciations for the district's growing CTE offerings and a reiteration of the superintendent's longstanding priority to seek funding for a new career center. The board took no formal policy votes in this recognitions-and-introductions segment.
