Council hears home‑bakery renewal and final‑plat revision for Towns at South Main

Planning staff presented two separate land‑use items at the Oct. 13 work session: a renewal request for a home‑bakery permit and a final‑plat revision for a townhouse subdivision.

On the first item staff described an application by Ali Jackson of 2800 Dominion Lane seeking renewal of a land‑use permit originally authorized Oct. 16, 2023 to operate a home bakery specializing in custom cookies. Staff said the proposed operation would be confined to the existing kitchen and prep area, would use standard household appliances, and would have no signage or external display. The planning commission recommended approval with conditions; staff recommended a 24‑month renewal that would limit the permit to the current application and prohibit clients and visible business activities.

Separately, planning staff reported a final‑plat revision submitted by Kennesaw Town Homeowner LLC for Lot 44 (1887 Deco Drive) in the Towns at South Main subdivision. Staff said the subdivision covers 3.77 acres in Land Lot 168, Tax Parcel 02. Because the building was set back one foot from the original plan, the revised plat reflects a 20‑square‑foot increase in Lot 44. The revised plat was reviewed for compliance by the plan review committee, including Cobb Fire and Cobb Water, and staff recommended approval.

Council members asked staff about broader permitting reforms and were told planning, zoning and business‑license staff are working on a process that would give administrative authority for certain renewals; staff expects to present a draft by December. Both land‑use items were placed on consent.
