Committee approves House Bill 528 to 'recenter' property tax increases, 14-7

House Bill 528 was brought before the House Taxation Committee for executive action. Representative Konauer spoke in favor, saying the bill would ‘‘recenter us back’’ from a recent increase in property taxes and reset the framework so the state can move forward. No extended debate was recorded on the floor beyond members signaling support.
The committee called the question and conducted a roll call vote. The committee recorded 14 votes in favor and 7 votes opposed, and Chair Fielder announced HB 528 had passed the House Taxation Committee by a vote of 14 to 7. The bill will proceed out of committee for further legislative consideration.
