Mayor Jessica Fetti and the Erlanger City Council voted Oct. 7 to approve the mayor’s appointment of Mike Lemming as chief of police.
City Attorney Jack presented a municipal order authorizing the mayor’s appointment “pursuant to CARES 83 8 0 8 0 3” (as stated in the meeting record). Council asked for discussion, heard none, and approved the appointment by voice vote. After the vote, Mayor Fetti said, “Congratulations Chief Lemming if you're watching.”
Jack noted the appointment follows the promotion of former Police Chief Kyle Raider to director of public safety and described Lemming as the mayor’s recommendation and a long-time assistant to the former chief. The council did not record individual roll-call votes; approval was announced by voice and the presiding officer declared the motion carried.
Next steps: the appointment takes effect as recorded in the municipal order presented to council on Oct. 7; the council did not set separate implementation or reporting deadlines during the meeting.
