Court authorizes AED grant application, personnel hires and routine transfers

The Logan County Fiscal Court approved several routine items during its meeting, including authorizing the sheriff’s office to apply for an AED grant, approving budget transfers and confirming personnel actions.
The sheriff requested permission to apply for an AED grant (a program that can fund up to roughly $1,300 per unit); the court moved and approved allowing the office to submit the application so that AEDs could be placed in patrol cruisers.
The court also approved two cash transfers recommended by the treasurer: $35,000 from the occupational net profits tax fund to the LGEA fund and $20,000 from the same revenue source to the 9‑1‑1 fund. Both transfers were moved, seconded and approved by roll call.
Personnel matters included approval of a request to hire Joshua Willis as a part‑time deputy (effective 09/24/25) and approval to hire Jordan L. Lewis for the road department (effective 09/29/25). The court also recognized Cindy (road department staff) for 30 years of service.
Jailer Joshua Timmer and corrections staff reported that reentry and training programs have attracted former participants who later obtained employment; county leaders requested and expect program statistics in future reports.
