The Senate Business, Labor and Economic Affairs Committee voted to advance Senate Resolution 49, confirming three nominees to the Montana Board of Pharmacy.
Lieutenant Governor Kristen Juras urged support for Paul Brand, Michelle Case and Logan Tinson, saying pharmacists are "such a valuable part of our medical team" and recounting personal reliance on pharmacists in family health situations. Kevin Bragg, the state's bureau chief for professional licensing, and Tony King of the Montana Pharmacy Association also spoke in favor, noting the board regulates more than 7,700 licensees and helps maintain public safety.
Paul Brand, an independent pharmacy owner in Florence, said serving on the board has been rewarding and asked for reappointment. Michelle Case, a certified pharmacy technician, and Logan Tinson, an emergency medicine pharmacist and pharmacy manager at Benefis, each described their qualifications and asked the committee to confirm them.
Committee members asked about emergency pharmacy practice and honored the profession's contributions to local care; the committee moved SR 49 to do pass by voice vote. The resolution will go to the full Senate for its consideration.
