The Town of Uxbridge Public Safety Committee voted to recommend installation of a stop sign at the end of Chapin Street where it meets Blackstone Street after reviewing a resident’s request and a staff sketch showing sign placement.
Staff (Speaker 4) told members that while the location "doesn't fully meet the warrants for a stop sign," it would be "good practice to put one there," and recommended relocating an existing T-intersection sign farther up Chapin Street and adding a "stop ahead" sign. Speaker 4 moved that the committee recommend installation of a stop sign; the motion was seconded and the committee voted in favor.
The committee's recommendation will be forwarded to the select board, which has final authorization for new regulatory signage. Staff also agreed to follow up on a separate resident request about trimming landscaping near the town welcome sign to improve sight lines.
