Lieutenant Governor Kristin Juras spoke for the governor's office in support, calling the measure another red-tape cleanup item and reporting outreach to counties that found most are not using the licensing scheme; one county was found to still license transient merchants. Juras said the bill preserves county ability to regulate these vendors through ordinance or contract where appropriate and that MACo did not object after the amendment was added.
No opponents or informational witnesses appeared in person or online. Representative Mitchell closed the hearing. Later in the session the committee moved and concurred on HB443 by voice vote and Senator Fern agreed to carry the bill to the Senate floor.
