Glacier County commissioners approved a renewal of the lease with Logan Health for the hospital building during a special meeting on Sept. 29, 2025, after negotiating final language on insurance requirements and signature formatting.
The board’s action followed a detailed review of section 5.09 of the lease, which governs insurance certificates and cancellation notices. Participants agreed to change a strict deadline language to require delivery of certificates “a reasonable time prior to renewal” and to add Glacier County as a loss payee and an additional insured on relevant policies. A county participant summarized the intended certificate language as requiring that the “tenant must deliver certificate of insurance and renewal certificates prior to expiration,” emphasizing the county’s intent that coverage not lapse.
The motion to renew the lease was made by a commissioner and seconded by another commissioner; the board approved the motion by voice vote. Commissioners and staff confirmed they would circulate a redline and clean copy reflecting the agreed edits, arrange for signatures (either DocuSign or in person), and use the meeting date for the renewal once signatures are in place.
Participants also discussed the signature block and corporate names to appear on the lease. The parties agreed to remove a multi-signatory attestation and to have the Logan Health president sign; they also agreed they could list Logan Health as the doing-business-as (DBA) name alongside Northern Rockies Medical Center.
County staff asked Logan Health to confirm replacement-cost values used for insurance purposes so the county’s records match the insurer’s valuation. Staff said they would provide the property valuation references used in prior coverage for the buildings so Logan Health’s insurer can reconcile replacement-cost estimates.
There was no public comment. The board scheduled its next meeting for Oct. 7, 2025.
The vote recorded in the meeting was by voice; officials stated the motion carried and that the lease renewal would become effective when the corrected, signed lease is returned to the county.
