At the start of the July 15 meeting commissioners recognized Jimmy Bass for his service as director of the Coweta County Public Library System. Bass, who said he began working in county libraries in 2006 and became director in 2012, described staffing (33 employees, 19 full-time/14 part-time), state and federal grant support (including $521,000 from the state and E-Rate funding), library programs such as "1000 Books Before Kindergarten," and the system's use of digital-resources platforms and community programming.
Bass thanked the county and staff and introduced Michelle Hill, who he said will succeed him as director effective Aug. 1. Commissioners offered appreciation and a round of applause.
