Shady Cliff owners ask Logan County for local support as resort runs year-round

Raven Dodson, co-owner of Shady Cliff Resort, addressed the Logan County Fiscal Court on Aug. 26 to introduce herself, outline resort services and ask for local patronage as the business operates year-round.
"We came into Shady Cliff in May 2023. We closed on May 5, and within two weeks, we were able to open up," Dodson said, describing the rapid reopening and staffing. She said the resort supports about 25 employees at any time and that the majority come from Logan County.
Dodson described the resort’s offerings — a restaurant, lodge, marina and event center that seats about 110 — and listed fall and Labor Day entertainment, karaoke and a planned third annual fall festival on Oct. 18. She encouraged residents to "come and break hush puppies together" and to use the event center for reunions, holiday parties and retreats.
Court members asked for the restaurant’s typical hours and Dodson referred them to the resort website for the most up-to-date schedule while listing typical weekend and Monday-night hours. She also noted veterans’ service in her family and explained that the marina offers a 24‑hour launch with a $5 donation box to help with dock repairs.
Dodson’s appearance was framed as a community outreach request rather than a request for public funding; county officials suggested she consider a small-business/entrepreneur grant application available in the county office.
The court thanked Dodson for visiting and encouraged residents to support the local business.
