Committee hears annual code-commissioner cleanup bill

The House State Administration Committee heard House Bill 112, the annual bill carried by the co-commissioner to fix technical issues discovered during the codification of enacted legislation.
Todd Everts, co-commissioner and chief legal counsel, told the committee that the codification process is complex and that passage of HB 112 provides a window to correct erroneous references, incorporate name changes and fix inconsistencies that arise when many bills pass in a session. He described the measure as a routine “cleanup bill” and said the draft this session runs 51 pages with past co-commissioner bills having been much larger.
Everts explained the workload behind producing the printed code volumes and emphasized that the bill is intended to make technical corrections rather than substantive changes. The committee heard no opponents and did not take immediate action on the measure; the sponsor closed the hearing.
