The Town of Uxbridge Select Board advanced several routine but consequential items in a single session.
Road closure: The board approved a contractor request to close Blackstone Street (between numbers 105 and 173) for milling and paving, authorizing a two‑hour closure window (8 a.m.–10 a.m.) and a signed detour plan. Town staff said the work is the final connecting section following last year’s paving.
Appointments: The board approved eight reappointments and several new committee appointments. Samantha Ramos and Kate Marshall were appointed to the 300th Anniversary Committee; Steven Crodo (Open Space Committee) and Mark Calarice (Recreation Commission) were also appointed to their respective bodies. The Select Board discussed using a shared calendar and the committee’s plan to utilize a separate 501(c)(3) “friends” account for donations and advance payments. The town previously appropriated about $50,000 for the 300th anniversary committee.
Carpenter Terrace demolition and lien: The board authorized the town to proceed with demolition of a building at 1 Carpenter Terrace that is in severe disrepair and to place a lien on the property for the demolition cost. Meeting materials noted the town has budgeted $30,000 in anticipation of doing the work and recovering costs through the lien process.
Votes were taken by roll call for each of these items; board members recorded “yes” votes on the road closure, the listed appointments, and the statement of claim to proceed with demolition and lien placement.
